Description:
As a component of the
Northeast Coastal Ocean Forecast System, the unstructured grid Finite-Volume Coastal Ocean
Model (FVCOM) was configured for the Gulf of Maine/Georges Bank /New England Shelf (
FVCOM-GOM)
by a joint effort between the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution. Three-day forecasts are updated daily, with hindcast meteorological
fields and available river discharge and open boundary conditions.
NECOFS is a product of the Northeast Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observation System (NERACOOS) Program, with support from the Massachusetts Fishery Institution (MFI) and MIT Sea Grant Program.
