Description:
The California Coastal Ocean nowcasting and forecasting system model is produced and distributed by Dr. Yi Chao at UCLA through the Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering and the West Coast Office of Remote Sensing Solutions, Inc.

The forecasting system is based on the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). The domain encompasses the entire California coastal region out to 1000 km off shore, with a horizontal resolution of 3 km and 40 vertical levels. A multi-scale three-dimensional variational data assimilation (MS-3DVAR) system is used to produce the nowcast.

The most recent 7 days of 72-hour forecasts are available here.
